THE GOOD HEALTH AWARD

What are the criteria?
The GOOD Health Award is given to catering establishments that satisfy three simple criteria:

  • Provision of non smoking areas
  • Practising good standards of food hygiene
  • Offering healthy food choices

How will the criteria be tested?
Each establishment applying for the Award will need to complete a questionnaire that covers the three criteria. In addition to this there will be a site inspection by an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) and the Health Promotion Officer (HPO). The questionnaire will be marked by a qualified Dietitian to assess the extent to which the customers of the establishment are offered healthier choices.
Depending on the result of the various assessments, the establishment will be awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. The establishments will also be offered helpful advice to progress to the next level.
